Directions to the Merieult House: Turn away from the river and proceed towards the French Quarter. Watch out for the railroad and streetcar tracks, and look both ways to make sure there are no trains approaching. Cross Decatur Street and walk down St. Peter Street for two blocks, until you come to Royal Street. The first block of St. Peter is a pedestrian mall running alongside Jackson Square. Take a left on Royal Street and stay on the left side of the street. Continue for a block and a half, and stop across from 533 Royal Street, the former home of Jean-Francois Merieult. The building is now part of The Historic New Orleans Collection’s museum complex.
