HOW TO USE THIS TOUR

This tour stretches from the Mississippi River, across the 13 blocks of the French Quarter, the Faubourg Marigny—which is a neighborhood on the edge of the French Quarter—across Canal Street to the Central Business District, and concludes at Congo Square in the historic Faubourg Tremé, one of America’s first integrated neighborhoods.

Whether you have a couple of hours or a couple of days, there are many ways to experience the New Orleans Slave Trade Marker Tour. You can walk, bike, or drive. You can tour at your own pace, in any order you choose. Remember at all times to be careful of traffic and watch for uneven sidewalks and roads. Also, please be mindful of local residents and respect private property.

If you do not have time to take the full tour, you can touch the map navigation button at the bottom of the app screen to locate your position and find the nearby sites. When the map page loads, touch the "target" icon in the upper left of the map to show your current location. Touch any site number on the map, and a pop-up box will display the site name. Touch the site name in the pop-up box to see a site image, the list of audio tracks for that site, and directions to the next site.

You can also touch the Sites navigation button at the bottom of this app to find a list of historic sites in the area.
